In 1610, Galileo turned a telescope of his own making to the night sky and saw things no one else had seen since the beginning of time. The discoveries he made shook the Western world. We will explore how he managed to achieve what he did, and the decidedly mixed reception that greeted him.

Bio: Tim Parrott took his degree at Cambridge then worked as a schoolteacher before specialising in explaining Popular Science to general audiences. In addition to Cosmology, Physics and Evolutionary Biology, he also teaches courses on architectural structure, always with a view to developing the knowledge and understanding of people without a background in Science who nonetheless want to know more.
