Chinese Beginners

Contrary to popular belief, learning Chinese is easier than you think – with none of the tenses, plurals, cases or genders that can make learning European languages so difficult. You will be amazed to find out how logical and straightforward Chinese can be. What’s more, Mandarin Chinese is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world. Challenge yourself to a brain workout. You will gain a basic understanding of everyday expressions and basic Chinese characters. By the end of the course, you should be able to order dishes in Mandarin in your local Chinese restaurant.

Name: Helena Hon
Bio: Helena previously taught art and English in both primary and secondary schools in Hong Kong following her teacher training. Helena loves languages; she speaks English, Cantonese and Mandarin, has recently started to learn French, and has a degree in Japanese and Law from SOAS, University of London. She has over 10 years’ experience teaching both Cantonese and Mandarin in British private schools and weekend Chinese community schools, and she loves all things Japanese.
