Contemporary Basketry Improvers

This course, suitable for improvers, builds on techniques learnt last year. We will use a variety of natural materials to further explore form and surface whilst learning some Japanese basketry techniques and considering the sculptural use of multiples.

Customer Information: A general toolkit for the course to include secateurs/garden snips, scissors, blunt-ended darning needle, spray bottle, old towel for keeping materials damp, notebook, and pen. A single blade pocket-knife and A4 cutting mat/board would be useful to avoid sharing.
Your Tutor
Name: Hazel Godfrey
Bio: Hazel is a contemporary basket-maker and willow artist, her inspiration comes from nature and the human condition. Graduating in 2004 with a degree in Applied Arts 3D Media she began working professionally in 2008.
Hazel works with willow and various other natural materials. She has made commissioned works for a variety of settings including community outdoor spaces, public buildings, TV, and private clients. She has also exhibited work on a Gold Award winning stand at Chelsea Flower Show.
For over 16 years, Hazel has taught in Herts and Bucks, as well as from her studio near Hitchin.
